I had some troubles posting pictures while we were in NY so I thought I'd post a few now that we are home...

This picture was taken the morning of surgery...she wanted her doll Natalie and Princess the kitty cat to take with her to the hospital. She and Natalie have matching pajamas for re-cooping :)

This is pre-op; all smiles! I am so proud of her!!!

This picture was taken the morning after surgery. She was up and painting a picture in the PICU play room when Brooks and Dad came.

This is back at the apartment the day after surgery. She's really swollen but her cheek is so much smaller despite it.

We saw Dr. Waner one last time Sunday before coming home. He thought she looked great and that her next surgery would be simple (for him) in comparison. I don't think the surgery will be any easier for her, however. She does has some numbness, which was expected. He said they took every possible precaution to make sure nerves stayed intact so eventually the numbness will go away and she'll be herself. He explained that when nerves are distressed they react by going to sleep, but he 100% guaranteed function would return. He'd like for her to come back for the second surgery in 8-9 weeks.

We did come home with the drain tube still in. I'm hoping its out soon, for numerous reasons. For one, Millie wants to touch it and two, Josie is self conscious of it. When we went through airport security she thought everyone was looking at it. All day yesterday we dealt with people's stares because she is so swollen and still has the marker on her face from where they marked her nerves. At first she said "mom, I don't like it when they look at me" but by the end of the day she would just sit in her stroller and look down, she looked so defeated. I didn't know what to do or what to tell her other than people are curious and they don't realize they are hurting your feelings. It was a long day.

We are all just happy to be home now and all together again. Looking forward to new beginnings in 2012!
