Adjustments
Monday
Josie's swelling has definatley increased, after nap-time her eye was nearly shut. While in the hospital she was receiving steroids to help with inflamation and evidently it's normal for the swelling to increase after the steroids are stopped. She has been pretty clingy and her and Brooks seem to be competing for my lap. I have one child that feels ignored and the other has just been through surgery, it just ends up being mom-guilt.
On a good note, we were excited to see Josie on the news. She watched on my lap and at the end of the story she signed "more" so we watched it again, and again, and again:)
Tuesday
This morning after breakfast I pulled out the mask and Josie whimpered, she was so disappointed that we had to do this again. That's pretty much been the story after every meal today. She's been pretty cranky towards her brother, we've had to do lots of "nice touches". Brooks on the other hand has had a good day, its amazing considering Josie has slapped him so many times I've lost count.
More Surgeries?
I had a question as to whether or not there will be more surgeries. The tumor is infused in the soft tissue so removing all of it is impossible. One doctor gave us the analogy of trying to remove water from a sponge by cutting it, its just impossible to do. So, as Josie grows its likely that the tumor will grow. While we understand the reality of the disorder, we are optimistic people and are putting this in God's hands. We've had so many people offer to help in any way that they can, there is nothing that we'd like more than for you to keep Josie in your prayers!
Oh Erin, you deserve the mom of the year award - along ith all the other moms that handle medical situations with thier little ones. Give Josie a big hug, and when all else fails - haul out the play doh!! Stress reliever for all involved. I will tell Elizabeth to add Josie to her prayers, she never forgets, and she keeps the most up to date list :) Hang in there!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Erin (and Dave too) for keeping us updated. I wonder everyday how I would handle something like this and am constantly amazed by your strength and spirit. Josie will grow into an amazing woman because of the great example she has. Give both babies hugs for us and know that you are all in our prayers!
ReplyDeleteWe finally have a computer! The boys and I pray for Josie every night. Carter loves to see Josie's(GG's) pictures everyday. Thanks for keeping us posted, and you and Dave are doing amazing with everything.
ReplyDeleteI will forward to our friends, and Josie can get more people praying for her:)
Take care, we love you guys! Christy
